"Fight
the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also
called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." (1 Timothy
6:12)
The Gospel of Jesus Christ which has
been committed to us is still largely unknown and misunderstood by many Christians.
This accounts for the failure, lack, frustrations, sicknesses, and other challenges that many face: where they have a conflict between what the
Word says, and their own personal experiences. This causes questions to arise
in their hearts. It’s like someone who finds some terrible symptoms of sickness
welling up in his body and wonders why there’s no change, in spite of what he
knows and believes in the Word. He may have shouted the Word, spoken kindly,
fasted about the situation, sowed seeds, and even prayed all manner of prayers,
yet nothing changed. Now, he’s wondering, "What am I doing wrong; what am
I supposed to do that I’m not doing?"
Firstly you need to realize that the Bible does tell us that there’s a fight of faith: "Fight the
good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called,
and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses" (1 Timothy
6:12). The fight of faith is the unleashing of your faith on the rebellious
circumstances of time to compel changes to correspond with your stubborn faith
proclamations. The Word of God is real and true, but that doesn’t mean the
experiences of your life will automatically line up with the Word. You’re the
one to make them so; as Jesus often said, "thy faith hath made thee
whole."
You are the one to subdue and
exercise dominion over the circumstances and forces that come against you. The
Word never fails; so stick with the Word, and your testimonies and praise
reports will be inevitable, for the Lord will see to it that your faith in His
Word prevails and creates a foundation in you that can never be shaken by life circumstances anymore. Praise God!
