"Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)
Contrary
to what some think, your thoughts can make or mar you. Your thoughts actually
determine the quality of your life, for every man is the character of his
thoughts. That is why the Bible says "For as he thinketh in his heart, so
is he…" (Proverbs 23:7). It matters a great deal the thoughts that
go through your mind because your life won’t be different from how you think.
Your
mind is the doorway to your spirit. If it isn’t filled with the right kind of
information, you may not be able to receive guidance from the Holy Spirit as
you should.
This
year, you have to consciously decide to think the right thoughts; think on God’s
truths. The opening scripture clearly outlines what to think on—whatsoever
things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue, and
worthy of praise!
If
you ever find yourself in a challenging situation, instead of thinking on the problem
and magnifying it, insist that you are going to think only on what the Word says
concerning the issue. Think the Word only. Don’t think the way the rest of the
world thinks; use God’s Word to change your thought-life. Let His Word occupy
your thought processes morning, noon and night.
As you reflect upon the Word,
there will be a metamorphosis; it will make you talk right and you will go
through each day of this year in victory. Nothing in all of creation can be
truer, more just, more honest, and lovelier than the Word of God. Spend time
today to think on God’s Word!
