"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)
This is so profound. No wonder in Philippians 4:6-7) the Apostle Paul, by the Spirit writes, "Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." The world is looking for peace daily; it is trying to do everything to have peace, but the more it tries, the more it eludes it. The Bible says; "...when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child and they shall not escape" ( 1 Thessalonians 5:3). This is the dilemma that the people of the world are in today.
Jesus tells us in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." He overcame the world and gave us victory over the world. he actually conquered the world and when He was through, He gave us peace. He said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you..." (John 14:27), in other words, He gave us the peace that the world can not give.
The peace that you have in your spirit is the peace of Christ that surpasses understanding. Circumstances may not look right, everything looks like there is trouble, yet the inexplicable and indescribable peace of God garrisons your heart and mind. The world can not understand how come you are so much at peace in the midst of crises. That is the peace that Jesus gives, it gives you power over crises. It beggars understanding. Hallelujah!
